Right now

Now.
What I’m focused on.

If we were catching up over coffee, this is what I'd tell you. Updated every few months.

This is a "now" page. Instead of a list of everything I've ever done, it's a short snapshot of what I'm paying attention to right now. I update it every few months, so it's a bit like a letter to whoever happens to stop by.

01 · Focus

Fewer things, done better

For a long time, my default answer to a new idea or a new opportunity was yes. More projects, more calls, more plans. It felt productive. It mostly made me busy.

These days I'm doing the opposite. I've been cutting back on commitments that looked good on paper but didn't really matter, so I can give more time and attention to the few things that do. Deep, focused work in the mornings. Fewer meetings. More time with the people closest to me.

It's harder than it sounds. Saying no to good things so you can say yes to great ones takes practice. I'm still practicing.

02 · Reading

On the nightstand.

I try to always have one book on the go, and I read most nights before bed. On the nightstand at the moment:

  • Cover of Four Thousand Weeks

    Four Thousand Weeks

    Oliver Burkeman

An honest, refreshingly calm book about time. The main idea: you'll never get everything done, so choose what matters on purpose.

  • Cover of Meditations

    Meditations

    Marcus Aurelius

Again. I come back to it every year, and it reads differently every time.

  • Cover of Outlive

    Outlive

    Peter Attia

On living longer and staying healthy while you do. It's changed how I think about training for the long run.

03 · Training

Strong for the next 30 years.

Strength training three times a week, usually early in the morning before the day gets loud. On the other days, a long walk, a game of tennis or padel, or some easy cardio.

The goal isn't to look a certain way. It's to feel strong, sharp and steady for the next 30 years, not just the next 30 days. I've found that the days I train are almost always my best working days too.

04 · Learning

Two skills I’m working on.

Two things at the moment:

  • 01

    Public speaking

Telling a clear story in fewer words, and getting comfortable with silence instead of filling it.

  • 02

    Writing

Putting thoughts on paper is the best way I know to find out whether I actually understand something. The blog is part of that.

05 · Habits I'm working on

Small habits, repeated daily.

  • 01

    Ten quiet minutes each morning

Before the phone comes out. Coffee, a notebook and a rough plan for the day.

  • 02

    Protecting sleep

It's always the first thing to go when life gets busy, and the first thing I notice when it does.

  • 03

    A short review every evening

What went well, what didn't, and one thing to do better tomorrow.

  • 04

One day a week with as little screen time as possible

Harder than I'd like to admit.

06 · What I'm saying no to

Fewer yeses. Better ones.

  • Anything that only looks good from the outside
  • Busy work dressed up as progress
  • Late nights that steal from the next morning
  • And the habit of checking messages the second I wake up
